12. Add an expression  (Optional)

Reporter can do dynamic calculations with field values, constants, System Functions, and System Fields.  On the Add menu, move the cursor to Expression and press the Return key.  The Add Expression window shown in Figure 11 appears.

The ID field assigns a name to the expression which can be used to identify it later for modification.  Embedded spaces in the expression ID are acceptable.  The Column Title defaults to the same name as the ID, but can be changed.  Print Picture, Column Size, Column Position, Subtotal, and Grand Total are the same as for the Add Field window.

Any valid ACCENT R expression may be entered.  The names of fields from DS and DI's must be followed by a colon (:) with the name of the designator (Main, Aux1, etc.).

In this example, an expression that calculates the sales is added.  See step 12 after entering "Y" for Print Picture.

After filling in the window, move the cursor to the Return item on the Select an Action menu and the Return key.  Control is returned to the Add menu.
