5. Enter the report format specifications (Optional)
Move the cursor to the Format option and press the Return key. The report format window will appear as shown in Figure 5. This step is optional if the default settings are satisfactory for the report.
This window is used to enter format specifications for the report. Most of the fields are self-explanatory (lines per page, margins, page numbers, etc.). Help is available for each field by entering a question mark at that field. Some fields are elaborated on below:
Summary Report Only
If "Y" is specified, the report will contain only subtotal and grand total lines.
If a width greater than 80 columns is specified for a screen report, Reporter uses the screen as a window into the report. It is possible to move left, right, up, and down through the report.
Single or double quotes may be used in the report header. However, they cannot be mixed on the same line. The report will not have a heading if this entry is left blank. SALES REPORT is entered for the example.
New format specifications may be entered or the default values may be accepted as is. Tab down to the Select an Action menu. This menu appears on other windows with the same functions: Help - gives more information about the current window; Cancel - ignores current entries and returns to the parent menu; Return - accepts the latest entries and returns to the parent menu. Move the cursor to Return in the Select an Action menu and press the Return key. Control is returned to the Initialize menu.
