2. Display the Initialize menu

The cursor is positioned on Initialize.  Press the Return key to display the Initialize menu shown in Figure 2.  This menu is used to specify the general information needed to design a report.  The Initialize menu is the first place to start designing a report.

Initialize Menu Options:

  1. Library - specify the DBL name

  2. Oracle - declare Oracle table processing

  3. Name - specify the report name

  4. Format - specify the general report format

  5. Data - specify the sources of data for the report

  6. Return - go back to main menu

NOTE:  It is possible to log on and off the Oracle server within Reporter.  This saves time having to exit and restart Reporter to use the data base server.  An error message will be displayed if a data base server is selected without the proper version of ACCENT R.  For the purpose of the tutorial, it is assumed that DBMACH2 DS will be used.  See Appendix A for more information on using the Oracle data base server.
